The France star was forced off with a hamstring complaint

QPR manager Mark Hughes is hopeful that Djibril Cisse’s hamstring injury is only a slight strain.

The R’s will find out in a couple of days whether the France ace, who was replaced by Andy Johnson in the west Londoner’s 5-0 win over Kelantan, will miss the start of the season.

“Djib felt some reaction in his hamstring,” Hughes told the club’s official website. “He did the right thing by coming off quickly so that he didn’t do any more damage.

“We’re hopeful that it’s just a slight strain and nothing more serious than that.

“We’ll have to wait for a couple of days before it settles down and then we can make a more definite decision.

“It’s probably too early to make a guess on how long he’ll be out for, but we don’t really want him to be training at this time of the season.

“You have to be cautious and take precautions so that injuries don’t occur.

“We’re hopeful it won’t be any longer than a week to ten days, but it’s too early to say for definite.”
