Barking director of rugby Andrew Moreland was thrilled after kicking off their run of pre-season friendlies with a 43-39 win at home to Warlingham.

The Gale Street club ran in seven tries in total in beating the London Three South West outfit, pleasing the director of rugby no end.

“Twelve months ago, if you’d said to me we would’ve competed with, and looked better than, Warlingham I would’ve bitten your hand off,” Moreland told the club website.

“The squad have worked incredibly hard in pre-season and this is the start of their rewards for that hard work.

“What’s most pleasing to see is the harmony in the squad and the club we now enjoy. It was also good to see the boys with the bit between their teeth and raring to work even harder in training this week to continue the positive start.”
