Wagstaff wary of Ipswich on home turf.

Barking head coach Steve Wagstaff knows they cannot afford to take Ipswich for granted this weekend when they make the trip to Suffolk.

After an enforced three-week break, Barking returned to action with a 22-15 home win over Brentwood, and sit sixth in the London One North table going into Saturday’s match.

And though lowly Ipswich go into the game on the back of a 12-10 defeat at bottom side Woodford, Wagstaff believes they will be a different kettle of fish on home turf.

“There will be no hiding place for the boys at training this week,” said Wagstaff.

“There will be no excuses come Saturday and we have to focus on the job at hand.

“Ipswich will be an altogether different proposition at home compared to what they are away, so we have to be on our guard.

“Woodford are no pushovers now either with two wins on the spin, they have got a great team spirit.

“But we have to just remain focused on our strengths and their weakness and then hopefully we can pick up the result.”

Aaron Higgins and Nathan Barham were both forced off at the weekend with eye and ankle injuries respectively, but the head coach believes both players will be available for selection.

“Aaron got a scratch in the eye against Brentwood and Nathan twisted his ankle,” added Wagstaff. “But both should have recovered in time for Saturday and other than that we do not have too many problems.”
