The Central Park club make trip to Harwich & Dovercourt this weekend braced for a tricky encounter
Dagenham’s director of rugby Mark Collins is looking for his team to build some momentum in the Essex League Division One Shield over the next week.
The D’s produced a late show to beat Pegasus Palmerians 29-22 last Saturday having trailed with 10 minutes left.
After claiming an impressive win, Dagenham will look to build on that at Harwich & Dovercourt by picking up at least a losing bonus point.
“They seem to be a little bit like us because it all depends on who is available for them,” said Collins.
“With us travelling it will be difficult and with them at home I imagine they’ll have a few more to pick from.
“We went there in the Essex Presidents Shield in December and lost 43-10, so hopefully we can nick something this time.
“I would take a point or two because it would help us build some momentum with a couple of home games coming up.”
After a difficult first half of the campaign, Dagenham are hoping they can finish the second part of the season with a flourish.
The D’s are fifth in the new table on 11 points after a restructure for phase two of the season and have ambitions of finishing in the top four.
But Harwich will provide Dagenham with a tough test, as they sit third in the table with an encouraging record, which reads six wins from their seven games against clubs taking part in the Shield.
Collins added: “We have the chance to finish the season on a high and hopefully Saturday’s win has given us a bit of a boost.
“We have our principles, we want to move the ball around and we have faced contrasting styles this campaign, but we are doing okay.
“This season we have been on the end of a couple of hidings, but the boys have stuck with it and kept playing our game.
“Our style will always stay the same and we are doing our best to introduce it throughout the whole club.”
