England rugby star Haskell launches new competition

James Haskell, one of England’s fiercest rugby tacklers, is offering the chance to win big in a national competition for amateur clubs to see who can capture the best bone-thudding hits from across the nation.

Open to all amateur players aged 12 and over, ‘Tackle of the Week’ winners will receive a pair of Wasps Aviva Premiership tickets, as well as the chance to meet up post-match with some of the club’s players.

The clips must not be more than 60-90 seconds long and must be taken from an actual amateur match, not a practice or training session.

After capturing the magical moment of collision, entrants are invited to send their video to BodyFire using any of its social media channels.

Throughout the week the public will vote on their favourite tackle, which will account for 50 per cent of the overall vote. At the end of each week Haskell and some of his Aviva Premiership pals will review all entries, tally up votes and select the Tackle of the Week.

Haskell said: “I’m a huge advocate for amateur rugby and think it’s a fantastic way for both men and women to keep fit, socialise and enjoy being part of such a legendary game.

“Tackle of the Week opens up the glory of a great tackle. which is one its core elements to everyday players and I can’t wait to see what the nation conjures up for us.”

As one of England’s foremost tacklers, Haskell regularly tops the stats for both Wasps and England. Coached by the great Joe Worsley, Haskell himself has made some pretty impressive hits over the course of his career.

Tackle of the Week is a celebration of this legendary rugby tactic and the sheer effectiveness of stopping an opposing player in their tracks.

Winners will be treated to two tickets to a home Wasps Aviva Premiership game of their choice, as well as the opportunity to attend a post-match meet and greet with the players. Every winning Tackle of the Week is automatically entered into the Tackle of The Month competition.

Monthly winners are presented with a certified, signed piece of official James Haskell merchandise. Tackle of the Month champions then qualify for entry into the Tackle of the Year competition. Victors will receive a master class training session for their school, club or university from Haskell himself.

Tackle of the Week is open to all amateur players, aged 12 and over from any schools, club and/or university. Individual competitions run from Friday to Friday each week, with final entries closing at 4.30pm.
