Lloyd keen for Barking to get back to action after enforced three-week break.

Barking player-coach Ben Lloyd is wary of a wounded Brentwood this weekend.

Steve Wagstaff’s side play host to rivals who visit Gale Street on the back of a surprise 19-16 London One North defeat to bottom side Woodford last Saturday.

And with that in mind, Lloyd knows Brentwood will be keen to get a reaction on Saturday.

He said: “I over went to watch the game and Brentwood will be very disappointed with the performance.

“They will certainly be looking for a response and we will have to be wary of that.”

The last time the sides met on September 27 Barking lost 18-9 and ended the match with 13 men after red cards for Aaron Higgins and Andrew Badcock.

And although Lloyd believes they have improved since that defeat, he admits they have to give a better account of themselves this time round.

“It was pretty bad last time with the two red cards and we definitely could have done a lot better,” he added.

“But we have improved a lot as a team since then and although we haven’t played in a little while we still have the confidence from four wins in our last five.

“As a team we always want to do more and if we have ambitions of being in the top four we have to win games like this.”

Barking’s fixture against Eton Manor was cancelled last weekend due to waterlogged pitches, and they will now head to the New Wilderness on January 24 for the re-arranged match.
