Dagenham & Redbridge striker Ben Strevens wants to extend Gillingham’s poor home record.

Dagenham & Redbridge striker Ben Strevens is hoping to inflict more misery on former team Gillingham when John Still’s men make the trip to the Priestfield Stadium on Saturday.

Strevens and his team-mates go into the game boosted by a 1-0 win over third-placed Cheltenham Town at Victoria Road last Saturday.

The Gills do not have a particularly good home record either, having won just twice in their last eight games.

And Strevens, who left Gillingham last month to return to Daggers, is confident of causing the promotion hopefuls further home woes.

“I can’t wait for that now,” said Strevens. “Their home form isn’t overly good and if we can turn up and perform like we did [against Cheltenham] I think we are a match for anyone in this league.

“They are a very good away side. I don’t know the reason behind it, but they are finding results quite tough to come by at home so I think they’ll be a little bit nervous.

“I think we can go there and take advantage of it. It’s small little differences at this level and if we can get the consistency we had out there today there are some good times ahead.”

Despite having spent time in both camps this season, Strevens doesn’t feel the need to offer any advice to boss Still before the two sides meet.

“Everyone knows the way we play and I think it’s pretty common how Gillingham play,” he added.

“If we can perform as well as we can and they aren’t quite on it we are more than good enough to go there and get a result.

“But it is going to be a tough game, I am under no illusions. They are towards the top for a reason but I fancy us to get something.”
