Fleetwood Mac – 25 Years: The Chain (Warner Bros)
Twenty years on from its original release, this four-disc Fleetwood Mac offering remains the definitive compilation.
Spanning 25 years of the band’s varied repertoire - not to mention line-ups – the British/American rockers’ best offerings should satisfy age old fans, along with newer audiences looking to dig a little deeper than the number ones.
It wouldn’t be the ultimate compilation without Go Your Own Way, Dreams and Don’t Stop but there is a lot more here than simply the highlights from chart smashes such as 1977 Grammy award winning album Rumours.
The band’s soft rock roots may be what they are best known for but this collection demonstrates nicely their ability to flit between genres with an ease not always replicated among their contemporaries.
As no doubt orchestrated, this re-release suitably paves the way for the band’s impending international tour.
