The Hurly Burly girls up the ante in the second half of new show Naughty but Nice!

»The Hurly Burly girls return to the stage for what’s set to be another season of titillating peepshow.

The Benny Hill theme tune sets an unnerving opening that doesn’t truly fit the bill for what ensues. But what soon emerges is a welcome relief, a buxom blonde compere by the name of Miss Coco Dubois, who reveals each of her girls.

The very best of which, a certain Miss Polly Rae is saved for last and she doesn’t disappoint to say the least. She emerges from the ceiling to tease the audience with her Jessica Rabbit ways.

The girls don habits for an ecclesiastical number but are rudely interrupted. Head Girly the feared dominatrix of this saucy rabble soon appears to set the plot for the show.

With a medley of Britney, Michael Jackson and Kylie – who was in the audience – there is a definite cabaret factor.

Surprisingly the highlight comes in the form of an unexpected interpretive modern dance brunet duet to Portishead’s Glory Box, which is simply beautiful.

The interval leaves you feeling as though the show has brought nothing new to the burlesque table. Yet the second half is an entirely different bag. A mixture of Swiss ball routines and Freddy Mercury taches save the day.

The two hours whizz by as you are escorted through a world of cheeky Carry On comedy, superb dance, striptease and divine costumes.

If you are seeking risqué you may be left a little disappointed as this burlesque is mostly mild. But the girl’s glorious milky skin and beautiful bottoms will certainly make up for it. All in all the Hurly Burly girls are not spectacularly naughty, but are certainly very nice.

* The Hurly Burly Show – Naughty but Nice! is at the Duchess Theatre, Catherine Street, WC2, until Sept 22.
