The Laughing Pod opens its doors at the May and Baker Sports and Social Club in Dagenham Road, Dagenham, for the first time tomorrow evening in what is hoped will become a regular monthly event. The line up includes comedians Ben Norris, who has appeared on BBC’s Mock The Week and Eight Out Of Ten Cats, Tom Deacon, who has performed on Radio One, Angela Barnes, Natahan Caton and more.

“There’s nothing like it in the area,” the comedy night’s organiser Stephen Watson said. “We are getting the best comedians in the country to come down and perform pretty much on your doorstep.” Also appearing will be Canadian Simon King, who Stephen claims is as big as Peter Kay in his native country.

“Stand-up comedy should be about people who want to come out and have a really good night enjoying some fantastic comedians doing their thing,” said Stephen.

• Tickets cost £10 for social club members and £12 for non-members. Call 0208 984 5251 to book, doors open at 6pm.
