THE GRAND final of the second annual Starsearch competition has been an awesome success with a young Dagenham crooner taking home the Grand Prize.

The climax of the event, which is organised by and held at MusicTek music studios in Rainham Road South, was held on May 17.

After a spectacular range of songs, styles and artists the judges finally awarded the grand prize to 15-year-old Aaron Rush.

The teenage sensation sang renditions of Dean Martin's classic "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" and Ronan Keating's "If Tomorrow Never Comes".

The final took place in front of a packed crowd of more than 150 people as each of the 20 finalists performed two songs for the panel of judges which included Dave Wright and Dionne Auguste from MusicTek, Diane Keeble and Kelly White from D Stars Professional Talent Agency and musicians Kat and Mark Etherington.

Dave Wright MD of MusicTek said, "The performers were absolutely outstanding - The whole event has once again surpassed our expectations and we cannot wait to begin working with these extremely talented people. There really are some incredibly talented people in our area."

Grand prize winner Aaron success wins him the chance to record his own album at the studios plus a year being guided by MusicTeks own management team and a year on the books of D Stars talent agency.

Four other finalists also scooped prizes, April Goss and Amanjot Singh won a one year contract with D Stars Professional Talent agency and Bobbie Shepard and Holly Wyatt won a year of guidance from MusicTek management.

Other finalists who took part were Holly McKinley, Tiffany Shergold, Claire Marie Hampton, Lydia White, Kirsty Sweeney, Hailey Rankin, Becky Louise Lewis, Alyce Tweed, Lauren Ives, Rachael Joel, Jamie Dee, Bianca Szlezinter, Sabrina Martin, and Khloe Taylor.

Diane Keeble of D Stars Professional Agency said, "It has been our pleasure to be associated with this years event and we have been extremely impressed with the performances we have seen tonight. What a great show by everybody concerned.
