THE stirring sound of a Brass Band in full swing is going to get a few feet tapping at an Ilford based charity at the end of the month.

Becontree Brass Band will be playing a rousing programme of music in aid of the Barnardo's Brass Appeal at the Barnardo Church, Ilford, on Saturday, May 31.

With special arrangements for brass band of great movie classics, such as the Godfather, Lawrence of Arabia and Where Eagles Dare, a varied programme aims to raise money for Barnardo's Brass, a unique concept to unite the musical heritage of Barnardo's with the brass band community.

The Barnardo's Brass Co-ordinator, Ian McKay, expects the selection of music chosen will prove popular to the brass enthusiast and lovers of live music. He said, "Dr Thomas Barnardo was truly visionary in his acknowledgement of the benefits that music making could bring to the young and deprived children in his homes."

Tickets are £7 and £5 with children under 16 free providing they are accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are available on 01708 743946 or ianmac@waitrose.com
