AS NIGHTS out go - this one's sure to be a scream.

Stage One Theatre Company brings a new production to Ilford, Teen Scream, by West End musical playwrights the Heather brothers.

This completely original show is a comedy/horror, with Stage One's Jai Sepple describing it as "a mixture between Grease and the film Scream".

The plot unfolds on a deserted island where a group of high school kids are rehearsing their end of year play.

But things start to go horribly and hilariously wrong when they discover a crazed killer is on the loose - can the friends uncover his identity and save themselves?

This is the premier of Teen Scream and producers and directors from prestigious theatres will be apparently coming to see it at the Kenneth More Theatre in Ilford.

Speaking to the POST about staging this new musical, Jai said: "I couldn't believe it when John Heather called me to ask if we would stage their new production.

"It will definitely be our most exciting production so far and we have a few under our belt.

"Stage One started up in 1992 and has gone from strength to strength with over 42 different shows.

"We usually only do about four each year and as it's only five weeks until the show opens, rehearsals are well underway.

"We are going to have a few important people in the audience so we are all working really hard to make sure this is a big hit.

"The Heather brothers will be directing the show which is usually my job but this time I will actually be on stage.

"It feels strange handing over the reins to someone else. But leaving the play in the hands of the authors is a dream come true."

Their production of Teen Scream will open at the Kenneth More theatre, Ilford on Wednesday July 23 and run until Saturday July 26.
