A museum in the borough has retained full accreditation, putting it among the best in the country.
Valence House, in Becontree Avenue, Dagenham, is currently one of 1,700 museums across the UK that are accredited.
The Accreditation Scheme, run by Arts Council England, sets nationally agreed standards for museums to inspire confidence in the public, funding and governing bodies.
Valence House – which first achieved accreditation in the ‘90s –includes galleries and gardens. It also boasts a local archives and study centre.
