THE country’s first female pipe band which once performed for Adolf Hitler has celebrated its 80th birthday.
THE country’s first female pipe band which once performed for Adolf Hitler has celebrated its 80th birthday.
The Dagenham Girl Pipers Veterans Association gathered for a reunion on Saturday.
Around 80 guests were at the event, which included a display from band members, at the Daggers stadium in Victoria Road, Dagenham.
Ivy Riley, chairwoman of the veterans and one of the oldest members of the band, said: “It went very well. We all felt quite nostalgic.”

And she revealed that the group had vowed to meet again in the new millennium.
