This week Eastbury Manor House has celebrated 100 years since it was saved from demolition.
The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings and the National Trust took over the maintenance of the 16th Century Grade I listed Elizabethan house.
The manor house has launched a We Love Eastbury campaign, which will involve a year of celebrations. Barking and Dagenham residents and Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings members can get free access to the house during this time.
Cllr Saima Ashraf, deputy leader and cabinet member for community leadership and engagement, said: “Eastbury Manor House is undoubtedly an architectural treasure for residents of Barking and Dagenham to enjoy.
“I sincerely hope that people in the borough will take advantage of the chance to visit for free this year.”
Visitors are welcome on Thursday and Fridays between 10am and 4pm until December 14. The house will also open on Sundays, 11am to 4pm, from April 1.
