A talented pianist has scooped the Junior Young Musician of the Year award for the second time running.

Julia Cabral is only 11-years-old and has received a distinction in grades two and three piano – she skipped the first grade.

The Monteagle Primary School pupil won the top prize for her age group at the Barking and Dagenham Community Music Service Awards last week after performing Blue Sky Blues by Dave Stapleton.

Mum Noreen said Julia started playing aged five when they lived in the Philippines, where Julia was born.

Noreen commented: “We are a musical family and Julia picks it up easily.”

The budding piano player’s winning plaque has been brought back her school once more where it will hang for another year, maybe more.
