Student scientists are preparing to embark on a voyage of discovery by growing rocket seeds that have been into space.
Year 4 pupils from Northbury Primary School in Northbury Close, Barking, have joined 10,000 other schools that have been selected to grow seeds from the International Space Station (ISS).
“It has been jaw droppingly exciting,” said deputy headteacher Kulvinder Kaur Johal. “They are handling the seeds like they are little treasures, like they are diamonds.
“The seeds are so small they worry they are going to lose them.”
Pupils will monitor their growth for Rocket Science, an education project launched by the Royal Horticultural Society Campaign for School Gardening and the UK Space Agency.
