A man was attacked in Rainham Road North, Dagenham, last night.
Police were called to the scene at 8.39pm where officers found the semi-conscious victim, who is in his twenties, with non life threatening facial injuries.
Paramedics took him to an East London hospital. He later discharged himself.
The car park outside Stour House, in Stour Road, remains behind police tape following last night’s incident.
The ground outside the housing block is stained in blood.
Donna Bones, 33, who lives in Peverel House, next door to the crime scene, said: “I heard loud shouting from my flat, I think it was two people arguing. It was quite loud.”
James Farquharson, 32, a caretaker and Peverel House resident, said: “From my flat I heard a lot of teenagers shouting, some commotion. It sounded like the youngsters had a bit of a shouting match.”
Mum-of-three Amber Mirza, 25, who lives in Stour House, said: “I’ve lived here for six years and I’ve seen police cars here before, but never anyone assaulted. I find that [news] shocking.”
Ben Nicholls, 26, of Peverel House, said: “It’s not really surprising, we do live in Dagenham.
“Things like this have been happening for the past ten years, when I lived on the Heathway it was constant there too.
“A lot of people don’t even call the Bill when something happens, they deal with it on their own.”
Detectives from Barking CID are investigating and a police car and an unmarked vehicle remain on the scene.
