PEACOCK BC'S Wadi Camacho came out on top in his battle with heavyweight rival, Dagenham's Robin Dupre, at the North-East London Divisional ABA Championship finals held at Dukes Hall, Hornchurch on Friday.

The gallant Dupre, with just nine bouts to his credit, battled all the way against his more experienced rival.

The Peacock boxer (left) hammered home the sharper punches, but Dupre took the shots and came back for more.

"Robin gave me a real test and deserved praise for the way he took some solid shots and kept coming forward, but I was relaxed and felt good," said the winner, who now moves on to the London ABA semi-finals and finals at York Hall on March 20.

"Now I am really focused and looking forward to moving further towards winning a national title."

Peacock light-welterweight entry Claudio Paulo pressurised taller Repton rival Joe Baker in their hard-fought title decider.

However, the Repton boxer made the most of his height and reach advantage to score the points which earned the title.

Peacock middleweight Costas Osben and Repton rival Carlos Dwyer staged a keenly-fought middleweight semi-final with the points verdict going to the Repton boxer who was outpointed by clubmate Recce Shagourie in the final.
