A PROPERTY tycoon was on Monday jailed for seven years for plotting a 3.5million will swindle which targeted lonely people who "died in isolation''.

Judge Michael Gledhill, QC, branded Francis Fallon "manipulative and devious''. The 48-year-old father-of-three and sidekick Richard Carr, 76, claimed they were friends of the recently-deceased to get their hands on their homes and bank accounts.

The crooks netted almost 500,000 from 12 estates over seven years - backing up their claims by forging wills, letters and other documents. The pair also attempted to claim a further 10 properties worth a total of 3million. But investigators caught them after they made paperwork errors - in one case claiming the legacy of a man dead for 12 years.

Carr, of The Shaftesburys, Gascoigne Estate, Barking, and Fallon were convicted of conspiring to defraud and commit forgery following a month-long trial at Southwark Crown Court. Carr was found guilty in his absence after he skipped bail while awaiting trial.
