EAST LONDON Men's first team faced a visit from Thurrock at the weekend, with whom they share second place in the East England Hockey League Div 3SE.
The visitors who enjoyed much of the possession, but East London were consistently threatening on the counter attack and ruthless in their finishing power.
The hosts took the lead three times through striker Kevin Taylor and captain Adam Larkin, only for Thurrock to pull back each time and earn themselves a draw.
Wapping 2 East London 1

However, with many of their key players missing, the visitors found this encounter much more difficult and eventually lost by a single strike.
The result sees the side slip from top spot in the Essex Women's Hockey League Division One for the first time in three weeks, but they remain within three points of the leaders.
n Elsewhere in the club, the Men's second team drew 1-1 at Wapping's fifths, to keep themselves within two points of the second and last promotion spot in Div 5SE.
The Ladies' second team faced a skilful Old Southendian seconds team and eventually lost 4-1, despite some excellent goalkeeping from Sarah Ward-Davis and a fine goal from captain Morag Campbell.
