On the subject of the wheelie bins left on the pavement by the dustmen..

I have written to the council many, many times, I don't yet have a wheelie bin, nor have I had the promised visit, but I do have the blue glass box.

Due to the way my home is situated I cannot leave this on the boundary, for one thing I cannot move it when it's full, secondly it has to be out of the way of the pathway gate and my driveway gates.

Every time they collect the glass, this blue box is thrown just inside either gate, thus blocking them.

It then has to be moved by either myself or my neighbour. The box is also kept near my house so that the bottles and jars cannot be grabbed by any passing angelic child who may want to use them as missiles.

I cringe when I see these boxes left, easily accessible to anyone passing. If the council insist on making us have these bins and boxes the least they should do is return them to where they got them from.

I have pointed out to the council how much extra work these bins are going to make for the dustmen.

This might be ok if you are home at collection time, but if you work, or cannot be at home at this time, or are disabled they are just going to sit there, causing an obstruction of the footpath.

Is the next thing going to be fines for having your bin on the pavement?
