WEST HAM may be floundering close to the bottom of the Premier League at the moment, but they can claim a somewhat dubious connection to something that is definitely number one.
East Ham-born Vera Lynn became the oldest living artist to have a number one record in the UK, when, at the ripe old age of 92, her 'Very Best Of' album beat the Beatles to top spot.
A tenuous link to the Hammers you may think, but on closer examination maybe not. Included on the CD is her own rendition of I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles.
The version also includes an extra verse, so the West Ham choir may want to buy themselves a copy, learn the extra words and impress their friends at the next home game.
Local girl Vera must surely be a true Hammers fan!
