DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE manager John Still admitted he took more pleasure out of his side's 1-1 draw with Cheltenham at the weekend, than he did after their thrashings of Shrewsbury Town and Torquay United, writes MIKE SIMMONDS.

Daggers hit five on both of those occasions, but on Saturday they showed their defensive solidity, as they propelled an aerial bombardment from the hosts and picked up a worthy point.

"When you go two or three up, as we have done in the past, heads can go down slightly," he said.

"We've had to dig in at Cheltenham and battle away. When we had to do that a little bit at Notts County, we just switched off a bit, but we didn't this time.

"That was very pleasing, as I knew it was going to be a really tough game, especially as they bombarded us with long throws and corners.

"But we stood up to the challenge, and I thought our defence was excellent."

Still also reserved praise for goalkeeper Tony Roberts, as the Welshman pulled off a number of fine saves and put his disappointing display at MK Dons behind him.

"Tony was disappointed with himself in the week, but we all have games when it isn't doesn't go well," he said,

"What he did at Cheltenham was show what a good goalkeeper he is, he was called on and showed exactly what he could do."
