Daggers hold Cheltenham to a 1-1 draw at Whaddon Road

FULL TIME An excellent second half to the game there with Cheltenham piling forward, but to a man, Daggers defended superbly and it was definitely a point gained here today.

JB says: A small consolation - Burton just levelled against Notts County. I guess beating us really took it all out of them, eh? First managerial sacking of the month, perhaps - to be replaced by... Scolari? Mourinho? Who knows?!?!

Fingers and toes crossed here for Daggers - come on!!

He's alright now though.

There was just then, but Gain blasted into the sidenetting and now Roberts has gone down after bravely collecting a header and getting a knock from Alsop for his troubles.

Diallo comes close with a flick header, is there time for one more chance?!

FIVE minutes added time here

Its getting incredibly tight out there now - as Scott clears off his line, while Gain is in the book now for persistent infringing. All set up for a cracking finish!

JB wishes: Come on Monty - get a late winner!!!

At the moment, you have to say the hosts look more likely, as Roberts has made another tremendous stop, beating away Low's deflected effort.

GOALFLASH - Cheltenham 1 Daggers 1 MICHAEL TOWNSEND

They had been asking plenty of questions with lots of pressure, and Daggers were finally undone as Townsend nodded home from close range.

Their tails are up now, so it will be a nervy last 10 minutes or so for the Daggers defence.

Montgomery on to the field now to replace Green, while the hosts have no subs left, with Low on for Haynes.

75MINS: Cheltenham enjoying their best spell now, as Daggers are being forced to defend for long periods.

It must be said, they are doing just that right now, as the likes of Antwi, Doe, Arber and Griffiths are usually first to everything that is thrown into the box.

JB has this say: Good to see Benno getting one to make up for his mistake last week - if Daggers hold on we'll be occupying the top spots with two of those teams penalised last year for going into administration!

A Torquay goal would be nice to get us a little further clear, but if it comes down to it, I'd much rather settle for a Daggers clean sheet! (... and as I write that, Torquay just scored!)

Come on Daggers - attack is the best form of defence, get in the box Thurgood and make my prediction good!!

Thurgood is having a terrific game today, all over the pitch as usual, hasnt yet fired a shot in anger though, but there is still time!

65MINS: Action galore here now, as Benson put one effort over from a matter of yards, before failing to get on another ball from Scott.

Then, Roberts made a terrific save low down as Hayles escaped Arber, and the rebound was chipped onto the bar by Bird.

The Welshman has been in fantastic form today, and proving any doubters wrong.

Robins do make their first change, with Hutton replacing Richards.

60MINS: The hosts came close to pulling a goal back straight away, as Diallos header was just over from a corner.

Although Cheltenham have got experience upfront, it is coming with its draw backs, as Alsop looks half the player he used too, so there might be a change coming there soon.

Richards has also gone close with a header, but they arent managing to threaten Roberts at the moment.

Crowd in now too - 2,969 with 167 travellers from Daggers

GOALFLASH: Robins 0 Daggers 1 - PAUL BENSON

Well, that was the start that Daggers wanted - Green had a shot deflected into the box, it arrived at the feet of Benson, and he got it out of his feet, before putting a shot into the top corner of the net - a quality finish.

Players are out for second half now, Daggers in their familiar huddle, and the only question is, will the deadlock be broken in this half?

HALF TIME: Goalless at the break then, and its been a fair result it must be said.

Hayles had a volley deflected over on stroke of half time - but although theres been a lot of effort from both teams, they have lacked the quality to unlock either defence.

For Daggers - Scott is having one of his less effective games so far and appears a touch off the pace, while although Green is seeing a lot of the ball, his crossing has been hit and miss at times.

But, with Benson in your side, then its impossible to rule anything out after the break.

One minutes added time here

40MINS: Daggers continue to press at times, and Green tried to catch Brown out at his near post from a free kick, but it was just the wrong side of the post.

Good thinking from the wingman though.

Close again then for Daggers as Benson, who showed superb skill to hurdle a challenge and feed Green, then charged into the box, but lifted his left foot effort over the bar when well placed.

35MINS: Big let off for Daggers there, as from a long throw, Roberts was barged out of the way by Alsop in a blatant foul, nothing was given, and Diallos ball back in was missed by the Cheltenham strikers.

At the other end, Green sent an effort wide with Brown out of his goal, and a deflected cross was just collected by the keeper, as it came out of the sky.

Not a great deal to write home about now - Griffiths just sent in a deflected cross that was snaffled by the keeper in front of Benson, but that really is it for now!

25MINS: Game just entering a period of quiet play at the moment, although Gain and Green combined well for a Benson header that was narrowly wide.

All the play is in midfield at the moment, and we are just waiting for that touch of quality to break the deadlock.

15MINS: Pretty even out there right now, with the hosts looking dangerous upfront, as Hayles, Richards and Alsop are quite a handful.

Roberts has made two fine saves already and Griffiths has been forced into a good civering tackle, while I've lost count of the number of corners won already, its getting ridiculous!

Just as I was typing - Roberts made a fine save as Artus burst clear and was one-on-one, but the keeper stuck a hand out to palm away.

Match Day Live regular Jamey Barron has been in touch, and is more than welcome.

He says: Let's hope Daggers start with their 100% beginning to the season (I don't include County anymore...). The next couple of games are where teams are likely to start falling away, so if we can keep this spell of wins up (these next three games are all against the middle/top half teams) we'll be setting ourselves up for a good season.

All about the money these first couple of seasons - some good high finishes coupled with the transfer revenue will set us up nicely for the future seasons.

Come on Benno, hit a hat-trick (although I think Thurgood will get one today!!)

10MINS: Corners galore here, as both sides are winning them whenever they venture forward it appears.

Daggers came oh so close to nicking the lead a moment ago, as Gains low drive was toepoked over the bar by Nurse. It could have gone anywhere, but unfortunately for the visitors it went into the crowd behind the goal.

5MINS: Almost an amazing start from Daggers there as Antwi rifles a half volley wide from 30 yards, with a pot shot after a long throw.

At the other end, Roberts shows good agility to tip a header from Diallo behind before claiming the corner, so he has already brushed away any hangover from Tuesday night.

Players are now out and getting ready for the kick-off - if you have any comments to make today, then email: mike.simmonds@archant.co.uk
