PORTUGUESE winger Luis Boa Morte feels that he is likely to miss the entire season following his horrific cruciate ligament injury sustained during the Asia Cup.

The 32-year-old went down in agony after clashing with Spurs defender Benoit Assou-Ekotto in Beijing and Boa Morte knew straight away it was serious.

"I believe that this season has completely gone for me," confessed the international winger. "Since the moment I got injured I thought it was a serious injury, as I have never felt such pain in my entire life.

"My cruciate ligament and the outer side of my knee have been affected."

Boa Morte won over many fans last season with his wholehearted, battling performances in claret and blue, despite his record of one goal in 80 appearances for the club.

But his hopes of improving that tally have now been dashed.

"It was hard for me to take because I had high hopes for West Ham during the summer. In the best case scenario, I will only be fit for the final two games of the season next May," he said.

* MEANWHILE, Hammers defender Jordan Spence has gone out on loan again.

The promising 19-year-old defender, has joined Championship side Scunthorpe United in a one-month deal.

Spence played 21 games for Leyton Orient last season on loan, and many felt that he would make the step up to West Ham's first team squad during this season.
