Being a West Ham fan I am fully aware of the hatred between these sets of supporters. This isn't the type of hate you get with Spurs/Arsenal, Man Utd/City, Liverpool/Everton, this is serious stuff dating back over 100 years and anyone who knows their football would surely know that. When this fixture was announced it should have been declared at the time by the FA as a game to be played with no supporters present.
The FA know the violent history between these fans yet they and the police played right into the hands of those who wanted nothing more than to cause a fight firstly by allowing the game to go ahead with supporters in attendance and then limiting the amount of support that Millwall could bring to just 1,500 leaving a massive overspill outside the ground.
Perhaps next time these teams have to meet, the FA will take into account their history.
