RAVI BOPARA'S first Ashes innings ended with disappointment after he was dismissed for 35 on Wednesday, writes MATT DINER.
The former Hainault & Clayhall star had looked nervy early on in his innings, after failing to deal with a couple of sharp deliveries from Peter Siddle which hit him on the body.
The confident 24-year-old recovered however, and hit a couple of glorious cover drives to give his side's innings momentum.
However, after taking a liking to the bowling of seamer Mitchell Johnson, the Australian paceman got his revenge with a slower ball off-cutter, which deceived Bopara.
The talented number three failed to spot the slower delivery and looped a cross-bat shot to Philip Hughes at cover.
