A DAMNING health report into hospital hygiene has slammed our hospitals for not meeting government standards.
Barking, Havering and Redbridge NHS Trust is among 21 out of the 388 in the country that have failed the tests set up by the healthcare watchdog Care Quality Commission (CQC).
It was granted conditional status, which means it will have to improve infection control or face legal action from the CQC.
The new regulator imposed measures to reduce delays in transfer for patients who need to be kept in isolated wards or rooms.
The hospitals were responsible for over 100 deaths due to MRSA or clostridium difficile infections caused by poor hygiene from 2006 to 2007.
