PLAYERS and supporters alike paid tribute to the life of former Hammer Jimmy Neighbour at Upton Park on Saturday.
The winger, who played for the Hammers between 1979 and 1983, including their League Cup Final battle with Liverpool in 1981, died two weeks ago of a heart attack while recovering from a recent hip operation.
The relatively new custom of a minute's applause was used for the tribute and it proved to be a moving moment.
Jimmy, who was just 58, leaves a wife Sheila and a son Ian, who is a West Ham season ticket holder.
n Meanwhile, Saturday's game was the official charity day to raise money the Richard House Children's Hospice in Canning Town, and there were bucket collections all around the ground.
