CHILDREN have created an impressive patchwork embodying the 7million renewal of the 1950s Thames View Estate in Barking.
It is made up of a multitude of works by three to seven-year-olds from Thames View School, Bastable Avenue, Barking.
Unveiled on Thursday, it will remain on display on hoardings in Abridge Way on the council estate until demolition works that began in September are complete.
The renewal of the eastern end of the housing estate began with the demolition of four high rise tower blocks.
Three low rise blocks were knocked down in November and the remaining buildings are being razed this year.
Plans are still being drawn up but residents have indicated they would like more sports and leisure facilities, improved roads and a better use of green spaces besides new homes.
The patchwork was created with backing from Barking and Dagenham's art and regeneration departments.
