ASPIRING youngsters have put the borough on the map for the dramatic rise in numbers of university goers.
Government figures released on this month show that 340 young people in Barking & Dagenham went into higher education in 2007/2008.
Ten years earlier, only 125 school leavers got a uni place.
The figures were released by the government as a response to Parliamentary questions from the Tories.
The publication showed that in most British constituencies, the number of youngsters going into higher education had risen.
Some poorer areas, like Barking & Dagenham or Peckham, had seen the biggest increases.
