DON Cheadle proves yet again that he can carry a blockbuster movie, in global action-thriller TRAITOR (12A).
OK, the story's fairly routine - an FBI agent tracks a suspected terrorist across the world before finding out it's not all as he thought - but this is well acted and it's nice to see a devout Muslim as the hero.
Guy Pearce does his jaw-clenching bit as the FBI man, with Jeff Daniels in a cameo role.
When agent Roy Clayton (Pearce) heads up the investigation into a dangerous international conspiracy, all clues seem to lead back to former US Special Operations officer Samir Horn (Cheadle).
A mysterious figure with a complex web of international connections, Horn has a knack for emerging on the scene just as a major operation goes down and disappearing before the authorities can question him.
The inter-agency task force links Horn to illicit activities in Yemen, Nice and London, but a tangle of contradictory evidence emerges, forcing Clayton to question whether his quarry is a disaffected former military operative - or something far more complicated.
If you fancy going to see an international chase thriller over the next couple of weeks, this is far superior to The International. And there's a good twist.
