Young keeper recalled from Daggers after lack of first team opportunities
James Shea has been recalled from his loan spell at Dagenham & Redbridge by parent club Arsenal.
The 20-year-old stopper featured in Daggers 1-1 draw with Walsall on Saturday, but has found first team action hard to come by during his stay at Victoria Road.
Shea played the final 10 minutes of Daggers first league match, after keeper Chris Lewington was sent off, but has not played in the league since.
The stopper moved to east London on a season-long loan in the summer, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has opted to recall Shea early.
Daggers manager John Still said: “I’m sorry to see James go. He’s been a pleasure to have in and around the club, but unfortunately Arsenal have recalled him due to his lack of first team opportunities.
“This has been down to the inspired form of Chris Lewington, who has been superb for us this season.
“James goes with best wishes from myself and all the coaching staff for the future.”
