A cat and six kittens have been abandoned in Victoria Park.
The mother and three larger kittens were found in a cat carrier yesterday next to a shoe box containing the three smaller kittens.
After a member of the public discovered the domestic short-hair cats they were taken to Celia Hammond Animal Trust.
Head nurse Emma Cashmore said: “They were quite traumatised when they arrived but overall unharmed.
“The boxes they were in were clean so they had not been in there very long. They must have left there at some point during that day.”
The cat and the smaller kittens, around 2-3 weeks old, are now safe in a foster home.
The bigger kittens, about six months old, will be available for adoption after a full health check.
