Thousands came together to brighten up the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park for Europe’s first ever Color Run Night.

The European debut kicked off on Saturday in epic style as runners were given glow in the dark powder and bubble zones before taking part in the five kilometre race.

Following the night run, which has previously been held in North America and Australia, participants were treated to an after-party to celebrate the event.

James Robinson, Managing Director of event organisers IMG Mass Participation Sports, said: “Over the past three years, The Color Run has gone from strength to strength, hosting hundreds of events across the globe, with numerous cities getting covered in colour every year in the UK.

“This was our first time hosting the event after sunset and what a magical evening it’s been. We can’t wait to bring the Color Run Night back in 2016.”

A spokeswoman for the event added: “In a celebration of health and happiness, with an incredible party atmosphere, runners donned their head torches and glow in the dark t-shirts to enjoy a magical night beneath the capital’s twinkling colour filled skies.”

London was the first European city to experience the night time version of the popular running series.
