Students who managed to get funding for activity events staged a fun day to improve physical and mental health.

The eight ‘ambassadors’ are on a sports management course at Barking and Dagenham College learning where to get money from to organise and manage sports events during the academic year for students’ social and mental wellbeing.

“They have learnt how to apply for funding,” college sports centre manager Emma Keegan explained. “They plan and run events, building on their teamwork and leadership skills. More students have benefited from joining in the activities.”

The funding comes from the Association of Colleges which has paid for three activity days so far like the fun day at the Rush Green college campus when 120 students joined in inflatable penalty shoot outs and inflatable goals. B

But there was also traditional physical skills like tug-o’-war and making a splash with a ‘splat the student’ stunt.
