Police closed part of the A1M last night due to a crash near junction 8 at Stevenage.
The busy Herts road was closed in both directions to allow emergency services access, according to information released by Herts police at midnight.
Delays were reported for several hours as emergency services attended the scene and police advised motorists to avoid the area and seek alternative routes.
