Research has revealed how much Barking and Dagenham Council has been spending on potholes over the last three years. 

The information was obtained from a freedom of information request (FOI) by LegalExpert.co.uk, a personal injury solicitors firm.

Since 2021, Barking and Dagenham Council has spent £2.2 million on pothole repairs, according to the data.

The largest yearly sum was £745,500 in both 2022 to 2023 and 2023 to January 2024.

The authority spent £729,500 on potholes in 2021 to 2022.

It comes after the RAC revealed it attended a record number of pothole-related repairs in 2023 - the highest recorded figures in seven years between October and December.
