A dance group founder has been celebrated by the National Lottery.
Elvire Mavusi Matu, from Barking and Dagenham, was named among the UK's 'next generation game changers' for her work in creating safe spaces for young people in east London.
She founded Konverse Dance Crews at just 14 in response to rising gang violence and the closure of youth centres.
With National Lottery funding, Konverse now offers free dance sessions, paid training, and qualifications to help young people build brighter futures.

Elvire has reached more than 900 participants.
Elvire said: "Growing up, there weren’t many safe spaces for young people in my neighbourhood, and the few which were around were being closed down.
"People desperately needed them; they needed a creative outlet to channel their energy – myself included – which is why I founded Konverse Dance Crews.
"Years later, I’m thankful to have been able to provide young people and adults in the community with a safe and supportive space to be themselves."
