A KILLER who stabbed his friend to death after being invited round his house was jailed for life.

Gary Cartwright, 53, knifed his friend David Trott, 52, through the heart during a drunken row.

Cartwright, who was on bail for assaulting his former partner at the time, had been asked to leave by Mr Trott when a row broke out, but instead armed himself with two blades from the kitchen.

Mr Trott, a father-of-three daughters and grandfather of eight, collapsed on his doorstep in Dagenham, and was taken to hospital but died hours later.

Cartwright pleaded guilty to murder.
