NEWHAM SWORDS won another title recently when Alex Savin became the Essex County Fencing champion.
After winning the under-15 international in Paris earlier this year, this latest triumph completed a fine season for the Newham youngster, who it appears is destined for great things within the sport.
To complement his victory, Swords also saw Amol Rattan finish third, Boris Kabasubabo come fifth and Rajan Rai, in his first senior competition, end in sixth place.
The Swords are now aiming to defend the London Youth Games title they have won for the last two years.
THREE new fencers passed their British Fencing Association grade one exam.
Sam Ireland, Kirsty Munn and Emma Knowles all completed the test after attending a beginners' course, run by Newham Swords at Kingsford School on Thursday evenings.
If you would like to join up with the next course, please contact Dave Savin on 07963 506567.
