A VETS surgery is looking for the owner of a miniature schnauzer called Oscar who was hit by a car outside Morrisons in Dagenham.
He was taken to Wylie Veterinary in Upminster after the accident, which happened in Wood Lane last night (February 1), and found to be unhurt.
The 8-year-old dog is chipped but the telephone number provided on the chip does not work.
A spokesperson from the surgery said: "We have been unable to contact the owner - it may be that they have changed telephone numbers recently
"Oscar is a lovely, lively little chap and obviously well cared for. Someone must be missing him. We hope he can be reunited with his owner."
