ARMED police descended on a house to arrest a 35-year-old man in connection with a domestic disturbance.

Officers were called to Lymington Road, Dagenham, by concerned neighbours at 8.40am on Thursday.

It was thought the man may have been carrying a gun, but this was not the case.

Officers got into the terraced house through the back garden, using a neighbouring property to gain access.

The man was taken into custody and charged with causing actual bodily harm.

Police called paramedics to the scene to treat a 50-year-old woman who had suffered head injuries.
