NEWHAM & ESSEX Beagle Steve Lewis cleared a season's best in the pole vault in Germany.
The Commonwealth Games bronze medalist cleared 5.65 metres in a competition in the German town of Dessau.
Lewis, who won his fifth consecutive UK indoor title in Sheffield earlier this month, improved his season's best by two centimetres, eventually finishing second to former world champion Giuseppe Gibilesco, who cleared 5.70m for the win.
Lewis' Beagle team-mates Kairn Stone won the Plymouth Hoe 10 for the fourth time in five races.
Plymouth schoolteacher Stone, who lost his three-year grip on the title last year, bounced back in style on Sunday, crossing the line in 51:28, nearly three minutes ahead of his nearest challenger.
In a field of 650 runners Stone set a fierce pace of just over 5.8 minutes per mile to regain his Hoe crown.
