A pair of bricklaying students have been rewarded as the special guests of a major UK trade association, after helping them out at a prestigious exhibition.

Barking and Dagenham College duo David Dent, 17, from Stratford, and Leon Webb, 18, from Hornchurch, came to the aid of the Mineral Products Association earlier this year, when they were asked to help build the group’s stand for a show.

Eager to be involved, the pair created the stand for this year’s EcoBuild event at the ExCeL Arena in March.

Not only did they build the stand though, they also spent three days showing visitors their concreting and brickwork skills by giving demonstrations at the show.

Impressed with their work, the students were invited to the association’s prestigious annual meeting, attended by over 140 delegates.

After chatting to the members, David and Leon were called up on stage and thanked for all their hard work and each presented with a £50 John Lewis voucher.
