The founders of Company drinks launched their debut book at Valence House on Saturday.

The book explores Barking and Dagenham’s hop picking history and was inspired by the east Londoners who went on summer holidays to Kent to pick hops.

Organised by company founder, Kathrin Boehm, and project manager, Susanna Wallis, the event featured a reading from former picker Violet Charlton.

Kathrin said: “Violet read in a very kind and moving way.

“The event was a great opportunity to remember hopping days and make it current by talking about memories.”

Company: Movements, Deals and Drinks costs £12 and is available from Valence House in Dagenham.
