HUNDREDS of people across the borough will embark on charitable acts tomorrow in aid of Children In Need.

The national event takes place each year and aims to raise millions of pounds for charity.

Students from Sydney Russell Comprehensive School were among the first to start raising money when they took part in the read-a-thon last Friday.

Many more events are planned in Barking and Dagenham including fancy dress and face painting competitions, while some plan to sit in a bath of baked beans and shave their heads. They will be taking place in schools, shops, offices and businesses.

The Children In Need television will be aired from 7pm tomorrow night, featuring a EastEnders and Coronation Street special, Doctor Who Christmas preview and performances from JLS and Alesha Dixon.
