THE BEST and bravest bobbies in the borough were recognised for their professionalism and dedication last week.

Chief Superintendent Tony Eastaugh held his first Borough Commander's Commendation Ceremony of the year at the May and Baker Sports Club, Rainham Road South, on Tuesday March 3.

Those awarded for outstanding victim care were DS Sean Bessent, PC Debbie Cooper, PC Chloe Snell, DC Daryl Gibbs and Victor Brand.

They were commended for commitment to duty and diligence during a rape case that resulted in a guilty verdict at the Old Bailey.

PCs Ray McQuarrie, Umer Iqbal, Craig Yardley and Mark Kilby were commended for their quick-thinking in arresting three suspects for armed robbery and securing some vital evidence.

Officers recognised for their excellent detective ability and investigative skills over a range of complicated cases were DS Chris Thorn, DS Steve Storey and DC Brett Hagen.

PCs Saima Rizvi and Karen Holman were commended for their professionalism, persistence and doggedness which led to the conviction of a man for dangerous driving and Grievous Bodily Harm.

For professionalism and bravery in arresting an armed man PC Jeremy Lim was given a commendation.

And PC Jenny Moore was recognised for her bravery and determination in single handedly confronting and restraining two burglars who were attempting to escape.
